Admission Requirements

Graduation from secondary school is required for admission to the Certificate in Business Administration. Mature applicants who do not meet this criterion may also be considered on the basis of minimum five years' work experience.

Registrants who want to enroll in individual courses but do not wish to complete the requirements of the certificate program are also welcome. If, at a later date, students decide to enter the certificate program, they may apply.

Note: There is an admission fee of CAD$150.

Evaluation

Advanced Standing

Students may transfer up to three courses from UVic or from other colleges and universities, providing the course content and requirements closely match the certificate courses.

To obtain advanced standing send a written request for consideration of advanced standing, along with course outlines, to the Program Director, and arrange to have official transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution to Business, Management and Technology Programs.

Note: There is a transfer credit fee of CAD$150 per course that is not taken through Business, Management and Technology Programs.

Format

On Campus

Each course is normally 13 weeks in duration and consists of one three-hour class per week. Classes are customarily held on campus on weekdays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. This schedule may vary, depending on class format and location.

By Distance

The Certificate in Business Administration may also be completed via distance education. There is a textbook and/or readings package required for a course. Students login to the course and communicate with the instructor and fellow students via the course management system Moodle. For further information about Moodle, visit the Moodle Startup Kit at http://distance.uvic.ca/onlinehelp/tutorials/moodle/. All assignments and course activities will be submitted electronically to the course instructor.

Intensive Courses

Students may also take one week intensive on-campus courses to reduce the completion time of the program.

Fast Track Option

The Certificate in Business Administration Program may also be completed by taking the CBA Fast Track option, which is a full-time 12 week program held on campus Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm.

Completion Requirements

To qualify for the University of Victoria's Certificate in Business Administration, candidates are required to successfully complete eight courses.

Start Dates:
