Date: Tuesdays, Jan. 25 to March 1

BEATLEMANIA. We’ll take a look at how this phenomenon came to be and the story behind those four lads from Liverpool.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative: Multiple Perspectives

Date: Tuesdays, Feb. 15 to March 15

China’s Belt and Road Initiative involves development projects in over 100 countries. In this course, we focus on Eurasia where it includes both overland and sea routes designed to kick start regional connectivity and economic growth.

The Group of Seven in Western Canada

Date: Tuesdays, Feb. 22 to March 29

We will investigate the lives and careers of these prominent artists and the significant artistic and personal relationships among the members of the Group of Seven.

Taking Great Travel Photos with Your iPhone/iPad

Date: Wednesdays, March 2 to April 6

This course covers: which apps to use and when; how to plan your itinerary with specific photo destinations; how to produce stunning 360-degree panoramas; and the creation of watercolour-style artwork images for cards

The Science of Happiness

Date: Fridays, March 4 to 18

Research indicates that a number of factors contribute to happiness including: feelings of gratitude, relationships, wealth, mindfulness, health, positive emotional experiences, accomplishments, and having a meaningful life. This course will examine these factors and provide hands-on practical exercises to help you find your happiness pathway.

Date: Thursdays, March 24 to April 28

Discover the music and lives of two of the most expressive and soulful singers to have ever lived.

Heat Waves and Droughts

Date: Thursday, April 14

In this course, you will learn about arid climates, like deserts, and how human activities are expanding these regions through activities like overgrazing livestock and deforestation.

Trees of Victoria I: Conifers

Date: Thursdays, Sundays June 9 to 26

While Vancouver Island has only 34 native species of trees, in the city we can encounter over 500 species. Trees in horticultural plantings could be from anywhere in the world. In this series, you will learn the basics of tree identification and where to find featured species in Victoria and the surrounding area.
