PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This intensive course is offered two (2) days a week for two (2) hours each day. It is for students who want to spend extra time and effort improving their IELTS test-taking skills.
IELTS tests English language ability in all four skills (speaking, reading, listening, and writing). In this course, you´ll practise tests, analyze question types and look at the most common problem areas. Supplementary review materials for problem areas will be provided and discussed in class as well as test–taking strategies.
Like TOEFL, IELTS is recognized as fulfilling the English language requirements for entry to academic courses by the majority of universities in Australia, Canada (including UVic) and the United Kingdom and currently by over 380 universities and colleges in the USA.
Please note: Starting in September 2011, the ELC will be offering "Saturday IELTS", a 10-week course for students with a minimum 4.5 IELTS! Contact Us for more information
This program requires strong speaking skills. At the beginning of the program, students write an English Proficiency Test and participate in an oral interview to determine program eligibility.

The Certificate of Participation will be awarded to students who attend at least 80% of the scheduled classes. Students who miss 20% or more classes (including late arrival and/or early departure) will not receive the Certificate of Participation. All students will receive a Record of Grade (report card) at the end of the program.
