PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This specialized program is available upon request for groups of teachers of English, or teachers required to use English as the language of instruction who want to:
The 4-week program provides English language instruction, training in English Language Teaching (ELT) strategies, lectures, seminars, workshops and includes a language class observation.
All English Language Centre students must:
A Certificate of Participation is awarded for successful completion of the program. The Certificate of Participation will be awarded to students who attend at least 80% of the scheduled classes. Students who miss 20% or more classes (including late arrival and/or early departure) will not receive the Certificate of Participation. All students will receive a Record of Grade (report card) at the end of the program.
This is not a credit course and does not guarantee admission to the University of Victoria.
Program Schedule
Monday - Friday
8:30am to 12:30pm Intensive English classes
Classes are designed to improve the language skills of the participants, focusing on all 4 skill areas: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The emphasis is on communicative language instruction.
Afternoons
1:30 to 4:30pm
Weekends
Optional weekend trips are offered at a minimal cost. These will include whale watching, a visit to the world-famous Butchart Gardens, and a trip to Vancouver.
