Diploma in Business Administration (DBA)

This Diploma Program is designed to enable graduates of the Certificate in Business Administration, and other mid-career learners with similar levels of academic preparation to pursue further studies for career or professional development needs.

The Diploma Program also allows graduates to complete bridging programs designed to satisfy professional organization accreditation.

Evaluation

Advanced Standing

Students may transfer up to three courses from UVic credit programs or from other colleges and universities, providing the course content and requirements closely match the certificate courses.

To obtain advanced standing send a written request for consideration of advanced standing, along with course outlines, to the Program Director and arrange to have official transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution to Business, Management and Technology Programs.

Note: There is a transfer credit fee of CAD$150 per course that is not taken through Business, Management and Technology Programs.

Format

On Campus

Each course is normally 13 weeks in duration and consists of one three-hour class per week. Classes are customarily held on campus on weekdays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. This schedule may vary, depending on class format and location.

By Distance

Certain courses in the Diploma in Business Administration may also be completed via distance education. There is a textbook and/or readings package required for a course. Students login to the course and communicate with the instructor and fellow students via the course management system Moodle. For further information about Moodle, visit the Moodle Startup Kit at http://distance.uvic.ca/onlinehelp/tutorials/moodle/. All assignments and course activities will be submitted electronically to the course instructor.

Intensive Courses

Students may also take one week intensive on-campus courses to reduce the completion time of the Program.

Aviation & Accelerated Program Options

The DBA can also be completed via the DBA - Diploma in Business Administration - Aviation Option or DBA - Diploma in Business Administration – Accelerated Option, which are 9 month full-time programs offered in a unique intensive format.  Please contact program administration for more details about these options.

 

Completion Requirements

To qualify for the Diploma in Business Administration, candidates are first required to complete the Certificate in Business Administration - CBA (eight courses), and then go on to complete an additional six courses from the selection available through Business, Management and Technology Programs.

It is recommended that candidates for the Diploma in Business Administration consult with program staff prior to enrolling in courses to ensure that their selections satisfy Diploma Program requirements.

Out of the resulting total of fourteen courses, candidates for the Diploma in Business Administration must ensure that they plan their program of studies so that they complete the following courses:

Required Courses;

Plus Five Courses Selected from the Following;

Plus six electives selected from other certificate and diploma courses offered by Business, Management and Technology Programs:
