Whether you’re already working in the field and want to specialize in environmental health or looking for a career in a rapidly expanding field, this program focuses on the latest dynamics of the health needs of employees in the workplace and the impact of the workplace on the environment. Industry, government, organizations, and businesses need certified professionals who understand the dual impact of employees on the environment and the workplace environment on the employees.

Qualify for Professional Designation
This certificate program exceeds the requirements set by Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP). It has been awarded 65 points by the Qualifications Review Committee in Factor 1—Formal Education of the application assessment process.
 
The program is a recipient of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers Project Minerva Canada Award.


Objective

This certificate program provides knowledge, skills, and practical information in an integrated approach. You'll learn to:  

This program has been developed in conjunction with an academic committee comprising members of the Environmental Health Centre, Health Information Science, Environmental Studies Program, Occupational Health and Safety, and the Division of Continuing Studies, University of Victoria; the Deputyt Provincial Health Officer; and Health Canada.

Format

All courses are 12 weeks long and delivered by distance education (online).  

Courses are delivered through a course management system called Moodle.

You'll need a reliable connection to the internet to access online courses.

Fees:

Costs per course effective Fall 2010:
$395.00 for early registration (up to 2 weeks prior to course start date); $435.00 regular course fee; OR $450.00 for international students

Required textbooks and/or course packages are an additional cost and are available from the University of Victoria Bookstore.  Costs range from $40 - $175 per course.
