COURSE INFORMATION

The Art of Facilitating

CACE 1.0 elective credit

Only offered face-to-face at UVic

This course builds upon and applies the principles introduced in the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) or the Instructional Techniques Workshop (ITW) and CACE’s Facilitating Adult Learning. A full week of learning will be intensive, practical, experiential and supportive, using a learning lab approach.

This course is limited to 10 participants and will introduce facilitation skills for learning, meeting and communicating that can be applied in a variety of adult learning and organizational situations.

Facilitators will conduct three short activities (and/or facilitate someone else leading an activity), be videotaped and receive feedback from the participants. You will also create a personal facilitation skill development plan.

Prerequisite: ISW, ITW or CACE’s Facilitating Adult Learning, or equivalent

Objective

After completing this course you will:

• learn to apply the facilitation skills introduced to you in a variety of adult learning and organizational situations;
• develop practical experience and receive constructive feedback in a supportive environment, and
• you will create a personal plan for implementing and developing your facilitation skills beyond the scope of the workshop.
