En'owkin Centre, Penticton, BC
A foundation in the study of language and linguistics is critical in understanding and undertaking successful language revitalization. The course will help develop your understanding of the languages you are dedicated to revitalizing, and will provide exposure to linguistic concepts and reference materials. Through this course, you build your capacity and understanding of:
Registration Deadline: April 19, 2010, late registrations accepted if space permits
Fee: CAD$576.61, including a CAD$100 materials fee which is required with each registration form. The tuition balance of CAD$476.61 is due on or before the first day of the course.
Instructor
Maxine Baptiste, BA, MA (linguistics), is Language Director at the En’owkin Centre and Associate Professor in Aboriginal Education at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Her teaching and research areas include indigenous education, language revitalization, policy and planning, and conversational and discourse analysis. She is a PhD candidate in Language and Culture at the University of Arizona. Maxine works to revitalize her Okanagan language.
