Introduction to Financial Markets

CBA/DBA Course

This course is designed to provide a general foundation in financial economics to guide students in dealing with financial markets. Topics include: the basic principles of securities valuation; risk/return trade off; different types of securities, and their attributes; institutions that govern trading; factors influencing market value; the Canadian financial environment and tax system; and basic principles of financial planning and portfolio management.

Individuals who complete this course may write the Canadian Securities Examination.

Recommended Prerequisites: It is strongly recommended that you have completed Business Administration (BMBA100) and/or Financial Accounting (BMBA140) prior to taking this course

Format

On Campus

This course is normally 13 weeks in duration and consists of one three-hour class per week. Classes are customarily held on campus on weekdays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. This schedule may vary, depending on class format and location.
