Improving Performance through Learning Transfer

CACE 1.0 elective credit

Offered online and face-to-face at UVic

One of the biggest challenges facing today’s training professionals is ensuring that what is learned in training is applied to the job. Drawing on research emerging from the training sciences, we will explore the transfer of training process and examine the critical factors that influence the effectiveness of training. You will develop training transfer strategies that will enhance the impact of training on performance and organizational effectiveness in your workplace.

Objective

This course provides learners the opportunity to:

• investigate the critical components of the transfer process
• identify barriers that keep trainees from fully applying newly learned behaviors and skills to the workplace
• explore various organizational factors, including the role of stakeholders
• develop transfer strategies and tools that will help improve training’s impact on organizational performance
