Join four urbanists from UVic on a short field trip downtown to investigate Victoria as a city space. Hamar Foster will explore the city's origins as a fort and current claims on the provincial capital. Jordan Stanger-Ross will discuss the expropriation of the Songhees Reserve in the context of the history of urban development in B.C. From a contemporary perspective, Deborah Curran will delve into the effect of the Dockside Green redevelopment on real estate, and Lisa Helps will discuss the role of public space in the economy.
