Business Law (formerly Commercial Law)

CBA/DBA Course

• Program Options: CBA DBA

It is essential for business people to acquire a general understanding of the law as it affects businesses in the conduct of their operation and the legal framework within which management decisions take place. Topics include: the Canadian legal system, law of contracts, law of agency, employment and insurance, business structures, real property, negotiable instruments, commercial financing and personal property security, and creditors rights.

Objective

• to provide you with a basic knowledge of legal concepts in the areas of law that business professionals frequently encounter in the performance of their duties
• to assist you in the recognition of legal problems and difficulties when they arise in order for you to seek appropriate legal advice
• to provide a basic knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and to enable you to understand any legal advice that your lawyers may provide

Format

Please Note:  This course is offered in multiple formats, but not every format will be offered each term.

On Campus

The course is normally 13 weeks in duration and consists of one three-hour class per week. Classes are customarily held on campus on weekdays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. This schedule may vary, depending on class format and location.

Intensive course

Students may also take a one week intensive on-campus course to reduce the completion time of this course.
