Assessment for PSC in Teaching French Immersion

Professional Specialization Certificate in Teaching French Immersion

Assessments of oral and written fluency levels are required for acceptance into this program. Two opportunities for assessment are offered each year -  in May and November - on campus or by distance.

There is no charge for this assessment. You will be tested on your current levels of fluency (15-minute oral interview, and a 2-hour written assignment).

Please consult with the following documents, for self-assessment:  Assessment Information and Evaluation Grid. If your composite scores are around 6.8 (entry requirement) or better, please register for your assessment format - on campus or by distance.

If upgrading is necessary, please contact Mr. Didier Bergeret, French Programs, Division of Continuing Studies (bergeret@uvic.ca)

With a successful assessment, and application or re-registration with UVic, you could start the program with Principles in Teaching French Immersion (online, January to April). Or begin in Summer 2012, with one or two courses, on campus (Modern French, and Organization & Instruction in Teaching French Immersion). Designs for Learning (online) is offered in the Fall (Note - Organization & Instruction course is prerequisite to Designs).

We are able to offer a bursary to currently certified teachers, on a course by course basis, depending on Ministry funding.
