The journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land is widely regarded as one of the most important events in the Bible, yet biblical geographers are still uncertain as to which route the Israelites actually travelled. In this course we will attempt to retrace the footsteps of the Israelites using maps, artifacts and photographs. It is hoped that by exploring the cartographic representation of this event in detail, we will be able to identify a variety of discourses embedded in the text and thereby enrich our understanding of the narrative.
